PASCAL Dynamic Contour Tonometer

True IOP without the influence
of corneal rigidity or thickness

The revolutionary PASCAL® Dynamic Contour Tonometer obtains accurate IOP without the need for algorithms and regardless of corneal thickness, elasticity, radius, astigmatism or diameter.

Even thought it looks like a high-tech version of an applanation tonometer, it is NOT an applanation tonometer.  The PASCAL works by having its cornea matched tip rest gently on the cornea in such a way as to get the cornea to “relax” into the tip.  When this occurs, corneal biomechanics are neutralized and no longer influence the reading of IOP.  At that point, a piezzo electric pressure sensor begins measuring the ocular pulse curve from which the instrument derives IOP and Ocular Pulse Amplitude (OPA).  The PASCAL gives the reading in a digital format.  It can also send the IOP and OPA curve data wirelessly to a printer.  Finally, the instrument rates the quality of the data on a scale of one to five.  Technicians love this feature and the user friendliness of the device.

The PASCAL is clinically validated in numerous scientific studies published in peer reviewed journals.  Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems manufactures the PASCAL® in Switzerland,  and also manufactures the highly acclaimed Amadeus® Microkeratome.
